Risk Disclosure

Digital assets are high-risk. Please read this before you trade.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Only invest money you can afford to lose. Digital asset prices are highly volatile and you may lose your entire investment.

1. Price volatility

Digital asset prices can rise or fall sharply in minutes, driven by sentiment, news, regulation, technology problems, low liquidity and the actions of large holders. You could lose some or all of the money you put in. Past performance is not a reliable guide to the future.

2. Not a bank deposit

Digital assets are not bank deposits and are not covered by the Australian Government's Financial Claims Scheme. Protections that apply to shares, managed funds or bank accounts, such as compensation schemes, may not apply. The rules for digital asset platforms are changing, and we will update this disclosure as they take effect.

3. No financial advice

Southledger does not give financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Any information we provide is general only and does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs. Consider getting independent advice before trading.

4. Regulatory change

Laws for digital assets are changing in Australia and overseas. New rules may restrict certain assets or services, change how they are taxed, or require us to remove assets from our platform.

5. Technology and network risks

  • Blockchain networks can become congested, causing delays and higher fees
  • Networks can fork, be attacked or change their rules
  • Smart contracts and token designs may contain flaws
  • Our platform could experience outages, bugs or security incidents despite our safeguards

6. Liquidity

You may not always be able to buy or sell at the price you want, or at all. Thinly traded assets can move sharply on small orders, and withdrawals can be delayed when networks are busy.

7. Irreversible transfers

Transfers on a blockchain generally cannot be reversed. If you send assets to the wrong address or on the wrong network, they may be lost permanently, and there is no chargeback.

8. Your recovery phrase

Your 12-word recovery phrase is the main way to regain access if you forget your password, and it controls your wallet. Southledger does not store it and cannot recover it for you. If you lose it, we can restore access to your account after an identity check and a security hold, but digital assets that can only be reached with the original phrase may be permanently lost. If someone else gets it, they can take control of your account and wallet. Write it down, store it offline, and never type it into any site or app other than Southledger's official recovery page.

9. Scams and account security

Scammers target crypto users with fake investment schemes, impersonation, romance scams and phishing. Never send crypto to someone you have only met online, and be wary of guaranteed returns. Southledger will never ask you for your password, 2FA codes or recovery phrase. If you think you've been scammed, contact us immediately and report it to Scamwatch.

10. Tax

Buying, selling, swapping or spending digital assets may trigger capital gains tax or other obligations. You are responsible for your own tax. See the ATO's guidance or speak to a tax adviser.

11. Third parties

We rely on banks, payment providers, custodians and other partners. If one of them fails or restricts services, it could affect deposits, withdrawals or access to your assets.

12. Your acknowledgement

By using Southledger, you confirm you have read and understood these risks, that you are making your own decisions, and that you can afford to bear any losses.
